In photo above, Stanford gives two students a ride in his sled's basket. Through the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration, students took a virtual field trip to Denali National Park, where a park ranger introduced them to the many dogs of Denali, their jobs and their adaptations for survival. Stanford brought his gear to Klukwan to share with students, including his hand-built sleds, hand-sewn dog booties, cold-weather clothing, dog harnesses, and ganglines. At 25 Mile, students had the opportunity to ride in the sled and stand in the driver's position. Favorite moments included riding and driving the sled, seeing the "surprisingly colored" dog scat, and petting the dogs.
