Greenbelt linking Carr's Cove and FAA?

May 12, 2011

Please consider bike trails that could be used for hiking, and biking to town from Mud Bay Road and the end of Small Tracts Road area so as to mitigate steep hills and traffic hazards and other light traffic and animal/pet conflicts. A long greenbelt from Carr’s Cove to FAA Road with a canoe trail could connect Chilkoot and Chilkat inlets with a portage trail and freight canoe passage. That could give back to our community a rich transportation system that historically was viable before the city started draining and engineering for only automobile transportation routes around town. (No sidewalks, no greenbelts for pets or livestock.) A planned unit development connecting Boy Scouts land given to them by the borough and the Haines Sanitation dump on FAA Road (given to them for pennies on the dollar) would enrich our community if allocation for farmland (community) and livestock were made available, with community trails as a focus.

I fly a sailplane and would benefit from a 4,000-foot-long greenbelt to set up in.
