Monday, June 27

A local motel reported a person checked out of their room and left it smelling like marijuana.

A caller reported someone was burning something that was causing very offensive fumes at 27 Mile Haines Highway. The Klehini Valley Fire Department responded and found the fire was legal.

A caller requested a welfare check on their father, whom they had not spoken to in more than a year. Officers made contact with the father, who said he would call his son.

A caller reported children at the Port Chilkoot Dock were having a sword fight with traffic cones. An officer responded and found nothing damaged.

A caller reported a vehicle had been parked in the same spot for a couple days and wanted the owners contacted to make sure everything is OK. The owner said the car last was at the ferry terminal, but a friend might have used it.

Sunday, June 26

A caller reported excessive yelling at the beach across from Lutak Lumber. An officer responded and gave two people a ride back to their campsite.

A caller reported their power was out on Small Tracts Road. Alaska Power and Telephone was advised.

A caller reported a skeleton on the beach heading into town from the ferry terminal. An officer was advised and said it was a bear skeleton.

A caller reported a suspicious vehicle driving slowly past their downtown business when it was closed.

A caller reported a smoldering piece of wood near the Port Chilkoot Dock.

Saturday, June 25

A caller reported a possible illegal tour. An officer responded, but the tour provider had left. The person two days later was cited for providing a tour without a permit and operating a commercial passenger vehicle without a permit.

A caller reported their power went out on Soap Suds Alley. Alaska Power and Telephone was advised.

A caller reported someone had let all the air out of one of their tires behind a downtown business.

Police responded to a collision between a car and a motorcycle at the Haines Highway and Second Avenue intersection. The driver of the car was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

Friday, June 24

A person came to the police station to report domestic violence that happened a few days earlier, downtown at a private residence. A man was taken into custody for assault.

A caller reported kids riding skateboards down Lutak hill. An officer responded and told the kids to stay out of the roadway.

A caller reported a tree down in the road on Fourth Avenue. Public works was advised.

A caller reported a silver Toyota pickup truck being driven recklessly on Main Street. An officer responded and did not locate the vehicle.

A caller reported kids riding their bikes in the street next to the school. An officer responded and did not find any children.

Thursday, June 23

A caller reported two females riding horses that were blocking part of the roadway near DOT on Main Street. Police were advised and did not locate the horses.

A caller reported a male in a red pickup truck was parked in the bus parking area at the Port Chilkoot Dock and refused to move. Police responded, and the vehicle had been moved.

Wednesday, June 22

A caller reported a vehicle parked in the permit only parking area at the Port Chilkoot Dock. Police responded and placed a warning notice on the vehicle.

Tuesday, June 21

A caller reported a yellow pickup truck being driven recklessly on Chilkat State Park Road. A male under age 21 was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol.

There were 22 medical calls and six calls about dogs.
