Vick did not vote to violate code
June 30, 2011
As a member of the borough assembly I have become accustomed to having my name associated with certain parts of the anatomy, eastern-block social agendas and even the occasional bodily discharge. And for the most part I can handle it – it is an unfortunate part of the modern political dialogue. But in last week’s letters to the editor, Gary Hess inaccurately cited my name as one of the assembly members who voted to violate borough code during the open seat appointment process. I realize that Gary is a passionate man with political views that are at times the opposite of my own. But like Gary I have a strong belief in the word of the law. And to say I violated borough code just isn’t true. The fact is I was the only assembly member not to vote to violate borough code. This was reported in the meeting minutes, the meeting audio, the local radio and the local newspaper. I thoroughly enjoy serving the community of Haines - even when it means being called names and having negative comments written about me in papers and blogs. But when it comes to the facts, I prefer that they are at least accurate.
