In one month I’ve seen and now read about Lani Hotch being honored. How proud she must be and the people of Klukwan, because I am proud of her. Myself, I’ve seen a lot happen in Klukwan. They’re saving their people and especially the language and culture. That’s working together for you. I wish our people of Haines had something to brag about. We only complain about our IRA and council members. It seems our IRA has become a one family affair and a non-native organization. We should be caring for us, our future, leadership, culture, etc, etc. The culture camp at Chilkoot was the very first in Southeast but now she’s been empty for who knows how long, just like our ANB and ANS hall. Treasure your honored one, Klukwan. She is worth much more and then some.
