Monday, Sept. 19
A caller reported a woman out of control and throwing things at a downtown motel. An officer responded and took the woman into protective custody for a medical issue. She later went to Juneau for treatment.
A caller reported someone was possibly baiting bears at 4 Mile Haines Highway. The caller said there was some salmon that did not have any teeth or claw marks, and a bear came up and took it. State troopers were advised.
A caller reported a bear near a campground in the Fort Seward area. Officers responded, and the bear moved on.
Saturday, Sept. 17
A caller reported suspicious activity on the side of the road heading out to Lutak. Officers responded and confirmed the activity was people volunteering for International Coastal Cleanup Day.
A caller reported a person outside their downtown house, banging on the door to get in after an argument. The caller then said she reached the person on their cell phone, and no officer response was needed.
Friday, Sept. 16
A caller reported a bear on Deishu Drive.
Callers reported a bear near Front Street.
Officers responded to provide backup for state troopers after a man turned in a sub-legal moose to Fish and Game and became upset.
A caller reported two overdue hunters out the Haines Highway. State troopers were advised, and the hunters were found the next morning.
Thursday, Sept. 15
A caller reported fireworks at the airport. An officer found remnants of fireworks that had been shot off, and initiated a case.
A caller reported being hit by a vehicle that was backing up at Chilkoot State Park Road. The caller said the driver would not exchange conversation, and then drove away. The victim said she would go to the Haines clinic to have her shoulder and arm examined. Officers then contacted the driver at the ferry terminal. Police said no charges would be filed.
A caller reported trash loose at a Deishu Drive property. Officers responded and contacted the homeowners.
A caller requested an officer check to see if their friend’s plane was at the airport, because the friend was supposed to arrive in Haines a few days earlier. Officers responded and located the plane.
A caller reported several bears near a house at 33 Mile Haines Highway.
Callers reported a bear on Deishu Drive. Officers responded, and the bear left.
A caller reported a bear in trash on Tower Road.
Wednesday, Sept. 14
A caller reported gravel spilled on Main Street between Second and Third avenues.
Tuesday, Sept. 13
A caller reported someone might be staying in his vacant house downtown without permission. Officers responded and found evidence of someone possibly staying there. Officers advised the caller to have a friend close all the windows and lock the doors.
There were 20 medical calls and six calls about dogs.
