Archaeology class on tap

 


Scientific Resource Surveys, Inc., a Haines-based archaeological firm, is offering a three-week course, “Basics of Archaeology and Stewardship.”

Classes will be held four days per week July 9-26. The cost is $350 per person or $500 per couple.

Andrea Nelson of SRS said the class will include numerous field trips, field work, and presenters and will focus on accessible, roadside archaeological sites.

The course will cover different disciplines of anthropology, and incorporate local geology, botany, subsistence, and enthnography. Students will also learn surveying techniques, and basics of recording cultural resources.
