Car totalled, driver OK after rig flips on Lutak Road

Samatha Wyatt, 23, of Haines was treated at the Haines clinic and released after rolling a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer near 9 Mile Lutak Road at noon Monday. According to state trooper Ken VanSpronsen, Wyatt’s car edged off the right-hand side of the road. She over-corrected and the car rolled once, crossing the oncoming lane before landing upright in a ditch on the road’s opposite side. There were no citations in the crash, which was witnessed by a driver in the oncoming lane. “She wasn’t paying attention and lost control. Once she over-corrected and started sliding on the wet pavement… It’s hard to recover, if you’re not used to it,” VanSpronsen said. Wyatt was the sole occupant. The car appears to be totaled, the trooper said. Marty Fowler photo.
