Lende on her way to new Ripinsky record

 

At right, J.J. Lende, 21, of Haines gets out in front of Blake Hamilton and Scott Daehler in the Mount Ripinsky Run on Independence Day. Lende finished second and set a new woman's record in the race, 32:34. Race winner Chandler Kemp, 22, of Haines broke his own record by a whopping 44 seconds, setting a new mark of 24:28.
