Eagles Fitted with 'Backpacks' for Tracking

 

A transmitter that sends a signal to a satellite is shown on an immature eagle last. Five eagles were fitted with the beacons last week, an improvement on radio telemetry that was previously used. A study aims to fit as many as 30 Haines birds in the coming years. See story in the online edition of the CVN.
