Wreath exchange reflected reverence
I would like to express my gratitude to the Civil Air Patrol, Chilkat Valley Flight 094, and representatives from Juneau, Sitka and Prince of Wales and the Royal Canadian Civil Air Patrol for the invitation to participate in their Wreaths Across America exchange honoring our veterans. The exchange took place at the Dalton Cache border crossing noon on Saturday, Dec. 1. This exchange occurs nationwide, but this is the northern and westernmost exchange to be performed.
The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Haines Chamber of Commerce, American Bald Eagle Foundation, American Legion, Haines Emblem Club and the village of Klukwan. Takshanuk Mountain Trails donated the use of their bus so those who were unable to walk to the cabin could still observe the ceremony.
The level of reverence and professionalism displayed by these cadets is a credit to themselves, the Civil Air Patrol and the Haines Borough. Thank you very much for your dedication to our veterans.
