The Haines Borough Assembly recently confirmed manager David Sosa’s recommendation to hire resident Leslie Ross as the new tourism director.

Ross started on the job earlier this month. Her annual salary is $45,240.

Ross is continuing to work as development director for KHNS through the station’s pledge drive this month.

Former tourism director Tanya Carlson resigned in April to take a new job as director of marketing and travel trade relations for the Alaska Travel Industry Association.

Carlson worked as Haines’ tourism director for three years.
