Crate Discovered at Burn Pile Linked to Early Firefighting

 

This 50-pound crate of soda ash (sodium carbonate) was discovered on a burn pile near the fairgrounds about a month ago. The CVN this week traced its origins to the Fort Seward Fire Hall, where it apparently was for use in the Fort's first firetruck, an American LaFrance soda pumper. Tom Morphet photo.
