Wet Approaches Record for Summer Months

Low clouds and fog envelop Letnikof Cove Monday. The summer's wet weather has continued into August, with more than 3.5 inches of rain falling between Aug. 8-11. Between June 1 and Aug. 11, 14.79 inches of rain have fallen, according to National Weather Service readings taken at the Haines airport. The record for total rainfall between June 1 and Aug. 31 is 15.93 inches, set in 1956. Tom Morphet photo.
