Flight Training

Carver Culbeck

A tethered merlin flies last week at the Fort Seward Parade Grounds during a Chilkat Forest Investigators class. Falconer and program instructor Mario Benassi was teaching the bird to return to its trainer. The class is open to all youths grades three through eight and focuses on animal behavior, ecology and morphology. It is run through the Takshanuk Watershed Council and funded by federal forest money that comes to the Haines Borough.
