Eagle students praised for research
On behalf of the Young Eagle Scientists, I want to thank the community of Haines for supporting our participation in the GLOBE conference in Los Angeles. The students received high praise for their research and presentation from scientists from NOAA, NASA, NSF, JPL, GLOBE, and many teachers and students. They had the opportunity to conduct research on Catalina Island with students from Taiwan, Thailand, Peru, Michigan and Ohio. They even had time to enjoy the sights of the Los Angeles area. They snorkeled, hiked, met new people, got sunburn, learned science, rode rides, negotiated traffic, went shopping, and met people and more people; all in all, a jam-packed and wonderful experience. Special thanks go out to Russ White, who chaperoned, and Steve Lewis of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, who printed our poster. Thank you, Haines! Pam Randles
