Borough office trailer for sale
In need of a used office trailer? Contact the Haines Borough.
The borough is selling the mobile office trailer that took up residence behind the municipality’s administration building in June 2014. The borough bought the trailer for $12,500 from Pacific Pile and Marine.
Interim public facilities director Brian Lemcke is recommending the sale. According to code, the trailer needs to be removed from its current location by the end of the year.
Lemcke this week moved into the second floor of the Public Safety Building, where the public facilities director’s office was originally housed before it moved into the administration building and then into the trailer. Lemcke used the same office when he worked as public facilities director from July 2011 until September 2012.
“I like it here. I liked it here before as well. There is lots of room. If I have contractors, I have room for meeting space and to lay things out. It works well for me,” Lemcke said.
Community Youth Development director Al Giddings, who shared the trailer with Lemcke, has also moved to the public safety building.
Planning Commission member Heather Lende, who had recently been inquiring about when the trailer would be moved, said she was relieved to hear the news. Lende referred to the trailer as “a terrible eyesore.”
“I am so happy that the borough is going to move the trailer from what should be one of the prettiest centers in town,” Lende said.
Former assembly member Debra Schnabel, who opposed purchase of the trailer, said she is also glad to see it go. Schnabel had stated she was afraid the trailer “would develop a sense of permanency” once it was installed behind the administration building.
“I am pleased to see that it is not a permanent structure for the borough,” she said.
Deputy clerk Krista Kielsmeier said the trailer will be sold through a sealed bid auction. There will be a minimum bid amount, though that hasn’t been set yet, she said.
The borough will also be selling a tilt bed trailer, a brush cutter, a riding lawn mower and 11 dump truck tires.
