Monday, Nov. 9

A caller asked police to perform a welfare check on a resident. Police were unable to make contact. The man called police to say he was tired of people checking on him and told police to leave him alone.

A person turned in two gift cards found on Sixth Avenue.

Sunday, Nov. 8

Saturday, Nov. 7

A caller on Helms Loop reported receiving a fraudulent call from someone saying he won a car.

Police found a 67-year-old man deceased near Main Street between Third and Fourth avenues when they responded to a welfare check request for an unconscious man lying under a truck. Police launched an investigation with the Alaska Medical Examiner’s Office.

A caller reported a suspected drunk driver on the Haines Highway heading toward town. Police stopped the vehicle and found the driver wasn’t drunk, but severely fatigued. Police gave the driver a warning.

A 911 caller reported a vehicle hit his vehicle on Lutak Road. Police investigated and an ambulance took the victim to the clinic. The man was later medevaced to Juneau. Police initiated and investigation an patrolled for the other involved vehicle but couldn’t find it. Police contacted the driver the following day. The case is under investigation.


Friday, Nov. 6

A Mathias Avenue caller reported a man in a pick-up truck turned around in her newly-laid lawn, causing damage. She said it was the third time this happened. Police told the caller to try to get a license plate number.

A man reported what he believed to be human remains near the Mud Bay Road spring. Troopers investigated and found they were bear remains.

Dispatch helped a Juneau caller get in touch with the Juneau Police Department.

Thursday, Nov. 5

A caller reported a vehicle accident near the intersection of Third Avenue and the Haines Highway. There were no injuries. Police responded, took a report and issued a citation for failure to yield.

A caller reported a man stole his cell phone while visiting at his Small Tracts Road home. The man reported he tracked the phone to the residence of the alleged thief. Police investigated. The person called back the next morning to report he found the phone in his car.

Wednesday, Nov. 4

Police initiated a case for an abandoned vehicle parked in the airport parking lot. The vehicle has been issued three citations for parking across lines and taking up three spots.

An anonymous caller asked police to conduct a welfare check on a woman due to suspicious circumstances. Police investigated and arrested a 53-year-old man on an outstanding warrant.

The U.S. Coast Guard asked for contact information on a pilot involved in a crash-landing near Eldred Rock.

Tuesday, Nov. 3

A person asked for help destroying prescription medication at the request of his probation officer. Police disposed of the medication.

A caller reported a broken window at the Chilkat Cruises dock. A responsible party was contacted.
