Two stories conflict with each other

I find it to be very ironic that on page seven of the March 2 edition, the articles really are in conflict with each other. While I think the Haines Economic Development Corporation would do a thorough and responsible job, it would likely be a poor financial decision. At the bottom of page seven, the story (“Assembly agrees to hear appeal of rock haul”) is about an endeavor that would assist the economy and we are making the business jump through hoops. So my point would be that we should spend almost $100,000 to develop the economy of Haines so we can spend at the very least an equal amount fighting said economy when it is staring us in the face. Let the economy take care of itself. The winners here certainly are not the taxpayers.
