A passion for politics isn’t a bad thing. But I am disappointed by the proponents of the recall who allow their strong political opinions to outweigh the importance of their longtime neighborly connections. Running for office here is sticking one’s neck out and trying to represent everyone, which is, of course, not possible. In our small town, with familiar faces and longtime associations, this recall effort has had hurtful effects on individuals, families, friends of friends, some businesses, and even on the outside perception of Haines. Please vote no on the recall ballot.
