During the past three years, Jan Hill has called the community “hateful.” She has called assembly members “axe-hurlers.” She has – without a word of proof or substantiation – alleged a plot or “set-up” to make Debra Schnabel our borough manager, a statement that borders on slander.

Hill cast the deciding vote that denied borough residents an opportunity to vote on the harbor expansion design.

Hill also cast the deciding vote against hiring Dave Palmer – an accomplished borough manager with 20 years of successful experience in Juneau, Petersburg and Craig – as interim borough manager in January. Palmer, who kept a home here for years, volunteered to work for a modest wage because he liked our community.

Palmer’s hire would have provided us a model for how a successful manager operates.

In her actions and her words, Jan Hill has not supported the broad interests of our community. She also has shown disrespect for the public and for assembly members. Please join me in voting for Joanie Wagner for Mayor.
