The Haines Borough Assembly gave the go-ahead to move forward with the repair of the roll-on, roll-off dock.

Borough manager Debra Schnabel decided not to go ahead with federal grant applications for funding the Lutak Dock. Feedback at a community meeting indicated the borough was not ready to embark on the project due to lack of local funding options and that the roll-on, roll-off dock should take priority should the dock fail. According to engineering reports, the Lutak Dock is “living on borrowed time” and fails to meet structural standards.
