Recycling events revised for COVID
May 14, 2020
In this time of the COVID- 19 pandemic Haines Friends of Recycling is making some changes to our schedule of special events:
Electronic Recycling, originally scheduled for June 5 and 6, has been postponed to the Fall, assuming we can safely hold the event then.
Fish net collection for recycling, normally scheduled for the first Saturday of the summer months, has been postponed until further notice.
We apologize for the inconvenience but it is important to keep our staff, volunteers, and the public safe.
We are continuing to accept the normal recycling of aluminum cans, tin cans, #1 and #2 plastics, fluorescent tubes, appliances (for a fee), white paper, cardboard, newsprint, and bagged shredded white paper.
Please note that we no longer are able to accept or recycle mixed/low grade paper.
When you bring your recycling to the Recycling Center (2.5-mile Small Tracts Rd.), please use physical distancing and wear gloves when opening the bins. We are working to set up hand sanitizer stations.
Thank you for continuing to recycle and help reduce waste in the Chilkat Valley. For questions, please contact us at 766-3000 or 766-2185 or via email: aronson@aptalaska.net
