Keeping animals caged is cruel
July 23, 2020
Do you know that keeping an animal caged is actually abuse, even cruelty? I’ve recently acquired a rabbit that had been raised in a cage. I’ve left the cage door open so he could come and go as he pleased At first, he was curious in his new surroundings. It wasn’t long before he was hopping into the air and enjoying his new freedom.
Another rabbit became available at the animal shelter. I’ve brought it home hoping they would keep each other company. They immediately ran to each other and are now inseparable. Bunnies also each have their own personalities. They stamp their feet when upset to show their displeasure, but they also are quite affectionate. If given a box lined with straw, bunnies are easily litter trained. Their favorite food besides lettuce and carrots is dandelion greens and bits of oranges, apples and grapes in small amounts.
Our bunnies get along well with cats. If you decide to get one or two bunnies, please don’t put them in a cage and ignore them. They deserve the same treatment as any pet.
