We would like to thank the Haines Borough for installing a public dump station at the Sewer & Water Department on Fair Drive. A dump station is the best way to empty black and gray water tanks in an RV, camper, or trailer into a sewer system. We were concerned for both local and out-of-state campers when the dump station at Delta Western’s gas station was recently eliminated. Since this COVID summer has been one that we’ve taken advantage of the Chilkat, Chilkoot, and Mosquito Lake State Park campgrounds for getaways in our travel trailer, we became acutely aware that lack of a public dump station could lead to illegal sewer dumping by some. We appreciate the continued availability of a station in Haines.
