God our Father has taken his daughter, Barbara Ann (Conrad) Puckett, 70, of Columbus, IN, home to Heaven at 6:16 p.m. Sunday, September 13th, 2020, at home surrounded by her family. Barbara was born January 8th, 1950, in Bartholomew County, to Leo and Anna (Rush) Conrad. She attended Columbus High School where she graduated as Salutatorian in 1968. She married James Puckett July 5th, 1969. Growing up, Barbara was actively involved in 4-H. She enjoyed traveling, camping, cooking and spending time with her family. One of her passions was making stained glass. Barbara worked early in her life at Irwin Union Bank and Cummins but spent much of her career as a real-estate broker managing multiple family businesses. She and James split their time between Columbus, Indiana and Haines, Alaska for 24 years. While in Haines they built a home, owned and operated a bed and breakfast, The Haines Bear Lodge, enjoyed 4 –wheeling, hunting moose and spending lots of time on their boat crabbing. Barbara attended church regularly throughout her life at First Christian Church, Community Church of Columbus, and Haines Presbyterian Church. Barbara is survived by her husband, James Puckett, two daughters Jana (Gregory) Noel and Kelly (Gregory) Shatto; her brother Steven (Paula) Conrad of Columbus; 5 grandchildren Lindsay (Ivan) Schultz, Rachael Noel, Abigail (Joseph) Wheeler, Noah Shatto, Paige Shatto and 5 great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and two great-grandchildren.
Barb's soul is in Heaven. Her earthly body will be buried at Flat Rock Cemetery in Columbus, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested Memorial contributions be made to Becky's Place, a safe house, in Haines Alaska. P.O. Box 1506 Haines, Alaska 99827.
