TweetNo, Chicken Little, the sky is NOT falling. I agree with previous naysayers Aronson and Figdor who deplore Mr. Paul Rogers’ wrongheaded resolution to make Haines a Second Amendment sanctuary city. I own and have enjoyed guns for trapshooting, black powder rifle competition, and deer hunting. Both my father and my husband were NRA members, but I doubt that either would have foreseen any good outcome from this panicky response to a non-issue. Trust the Constitution, not local or national prophets of doom and gloom. Please, Haines Borough Assembly members, stop and think carefully before you hop onto this nonsensical bandwagon that invites legal and community squabbles. How could this publicity-seeking and toothless resolution possibly provide a realistic or desirable image of Haines, whether of ourselves or for tourists?
