It's hard to beat standing in the sun on Mount Ripinsky, as Nicole Erny stops to celebrate the uphill part of the race before heading back down the mountain on Sunday.

Haines resident Sarah Elliott finished first in the annual Fourth of July Ripinsky Run on Sunday.

Elliott finished with a time of 32:13. Behind her was Chad Bieberich, who completed the run in 36:33. Logan Deuling came in third, less than a minute after Bieberich crossed the finish line.

Runners started on Main Street before heading up the race trail on Mt. Ripinsky. Partway up the trail they turn around and race back to town.
