Story tellers wanted, River Talk is back

October 14, 2021

The Lynn Canal Community Players (LCCP) are bringing back River Talk on Thursday Oct. 21 after a more than year-and-a-half, pandemic-caused hiatus.

“It’s been a while,” said LCCP president Kristen Brumfield. “We’re trying to get people coming back to the theater. Next week is our first one. There will be food and beverages.”

The evening will consist of seven storytellers who tell 7-minute stories. The cost to attend is $7 and the show starts at 7 p.m. This month’s speakers include Jason Eson, Thom Ely and Rhonda Newman, the school’s new vice principal. Brumfield said she’s looking for four more storytellers.

“It is local folks sharing personal stories around a common theme,” Brumfield wrote to the CVN. “Each event has a different theme.”

This year’s theme is “I didn’t see that coming” or “I saw that coming from a mile away.”

LCCP formerly hosted River Talk once a month throughout the year before the March 2020 pandemic began.
