It is now apparent from communications from Lynn Canal Conservation that the chairwoman of the planning commission started the April 7th meeting with an outright lie, stating that phase three has nothing to do with plans for an ore dock. That lie does not reflect well on the current process.  Given that the Planning Commission has decided to rely upon deception in order to gain public support, it becomes clear that Phase 3 is a “Trojan horse” for the mining industry’s plans to bring toxic heavy metals into our community and should be strongly opposed. Those heavy metals bring with them toxic dust which has, in the past, poisoned the air, the ground, and fish habitat in Skagway. We don’t need that here.
