What's happening at Fort Seward is obvious

July 14, 2022

Hey Port Chilkoot Company, I don’t get it. Five years ago the hospital/Alaska Indian Arts building in Fort Seward was a functioning building, and you might’ve been able to sell it for $300,000. Now it is so bad you can’t even walk potential buyers through it because there are so many things that need to be fixed. The roof is missing parts, and the moss is holding the moisture. Now you got a tear-down and a huge liability of I’m guessing $500,000. The barracks is toast. How does your company have so much money it can flush a million or two in the toilet? It’s obvious what is occurring. You don’t have to be Columbo to figure it out. And you are causing the town to live with these eyesore, unsafe buildings. Eventually the city government will figure out what is going on and declare those buildings nuisances, because that’s what they are. That is going to be a big hassle for you and the city. It just seems a little rude. And what a tragic waste.

Yours in mourning, Joe Parnell
