/home/cms_data/dfault/photos/stories/id/9/7/5097/s_ERRORTom MorphetVentriloquist Carlton Smith performs at the Haines School Library earlier this month with a custom-made figure created in the likeness of Klukwan resident Charlie James. James died in 1960 at the age of 92. "James" sang the Alaska Flag Song and talked about life in the village. Smith uses his act to teach Tlingit language to preschoolers in Juneau. "Strung Up & Reconfigured," a puppet exhibit at the Sheldon Museum, continues through March 30.
